« From participation to influence: can youth revitalize democracy?” is the topic of the World Forum for Democracy organized by the Council of Europe in Strasbourg on 3-5 November 2014.

Pascale Thumerelle, Vice President Head of CSR at Vivendi, will participate in the first round table discussion of the Forum, on November 3, on the topic: “Young people – actors of global change?”. Yves Leterme, Secretary General of International IDEA and former Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD, will be among the panelists. A partner of the Forum, Culture(s) with Vivendi  will live tweet the discussions on @CulturesWith (#coe_wfd).

More than 1200 participants from 80 countries – among them civil society activists, politics leaders, and representatives of media – will gather to hold debates to discuss the topic and will try to define new models of participation in democracy. Above all, the Council of Europe will give the floor to young people: more than 250 of them have worked on projects of “democracy prototypes” that will be showcased during the forum. The insights gathered will inform the work of the Council of Europe and its partners in the field of democracy and democratic governance in the near future.
