Approach and Performance
David Thomas, Vice-President, Environmental Affairs,
Health and Safety, Vivendi
(SDR 2007-2008)
« In 2001 Vivendi formally adopted an Environmental Charter which commits the group to: “Limiting the long-term environmental impact of its activities through more effective and productive management as
it continues to safeguard the health and safety of its employees and customers.”
Vivendi has defined several priorities, including:
- Providing regular, transparent reporting of its environmental activities and their impacts;
- Complying with environmental standards at its facilities and encouraging proactive reduction of environmental risks;
- Encouraging the group’s companies to seek recognition for their environmental efforts, including certification of their environmental management systems.
Consistent with these commitments, the annual Sustainable Development Report highlights the environmental impact of Vivendi’s world-wide operations and its efforts to reduce those impacts and to promote sustainable development. In addition, Vivendi continues to routinely monitor environmental, health and safety compliance at its facilities through the group’s compliance assessment program.
Finally, we congratulate our SFR business unit on obtaining ISO 14001 certification for various business activities in 2007. This certification recognizes the excellence of SFR’s environmental management programs. Each of these efforts is an integral part of Vivendi’s commitment both to protecting and preserving the environment and to sustainable development. »
