(SDR 2007-2008)

« Vivendi’s annual seminar on the struggle against piracy and deriving value from the group’s content had innovation as its theme for 2007. Innovation is more than ever a key development factor for our businesses. It is being deployed toward two sustainable objectives:

  • protecting our content, first of all, which will be more effective to the extent that innovative, reliable, and well-proportioned technical solutions are available and used by all the stakeholders in the value chain, from the subscriber to the access provider, and including publishers of online services;
  • deriving value from our content, for which innovation is also an enabling factor.

If our business units offer services that are rich, diversified, easy to access and easy to use, piracy will become a useless risk for the majority of people. The success of abundance offerings such as SFR’s “Illimythics” plan or the Neuf Music unlimited music offering – the fruit of a cooperative program between Universal Music Group and Neuf Cegetel launched in 2007 – shows a real encouragement to continue in this direction.
It is via innovation, finally, that our content and network businesses mutually strengthen each other, as the seminar showed, within a dynamic that benefits everyone – beginning with the public.»
