Sylvie Forbin, Senior Vice President, Public and European Affairs, Vivendi, took part this week in Brussels in a panel debate on the balance between IP protection and Internet freedom in Europe. Sylvie Forbin reminded participants that “copyright is fundamental in the online environment”. She explained that licensing schemes enable partnerships between content providers, online service providers and access networks. Sylvie Forbin stressed that “these partnerships are key to stimulating innovation and creative industries while bringing an ever expanding choice of services to European consumers”.

The panel debate, which took place on October 11, was organized by The Internet Society. Other panelists included Christian Engström (MEP Pirate Party), Marco Pancini (Senior Policy Counsel Google),  Cécile Despringre (Executive Director, Society of Audiovisual Authors),  Philippe Aigrain (Co-founder, La Quadrature du Net) and Markus Kummer (Vice President for Public Policy, Internet Society).
