SFR and the RATP roll out 3G and 4G services in the Paris metro system

SFR and the RATP (the Paris public transport operator) have just signed an agreement covering the roll-out of 3G and 4G services in the Paris-area metro and RER (regional train) system. Owners of smartphones and tablets will be able to use all their mobile Internet services during their underground travel, whether they’re at a station, on a platform or on a train. SFR is the first operator to sign such an agreement with the RATP. This fall, SFR will launch 3G services at the Châtelet and Gare de Lyon stations, and all stations on metro line 1 and the majority of stations on RER lines A and B will be covered in 2013. By the end of 2014, SFR has committed to rolling out 3G and 4G at the 170 main stations in the system (both metro and RER), thereby offering services to 75% of all travelers, and all RATP stations will be equipped by the end of 2015.
