Michel Gondry’s film, an adaptation of Boris Vian’s novel L’écume des jours was co-produced by StudioCanal and has been on general release since 24 April. The film tells the surreal and poetic story of Colin, a young idealistic and inventive man (played by Romain Duris) who meets and falls in love with a young woman, Chloe (Audrey Tautou). Soon after they are married, Chloe falls ill with a water lily growing in her lung. In order to pay homage to the rich and unique world in which the book is set, Michel Gondry has decided to stay as true as possible to the images he enjoyed when he first read it and to focus on details. Mood Indigo is a film about love, death and illness, but it is also a critique of society, brimming with images and parables about working life. On general release in France on 24 April.
