With its latest generation decoder, which combines super-fast browsing with programs in 4K-UHD and Dolby Atmos, the Canal+ Group has proclaimed 2018 a “year of technological experience”.

“The new decoder is just the beginning”, according to Maxime Saada, Chief Executive Officer of the Canal+ Group. “2018 will be the year for experiencing content with Canal, particularly with the new decoder, which is very powerful, and will provide our subscribers with a whole host of new functionalities”.

The new decoder has been redesigned, with simplified navigation, to make it as intuitive as a smartphone. It is now equipped with 8 tuners allowing ultra-quick channel-hopping in a matter of milliseconds (compared to several seconds currently), and will provide unparalleled viewing quality with its 4K-UHD and Dolby Atmos.

Thanks to Canal, France’s main satellite operator, 4K quality is becoming accessible throughout the country for the first time. And with its Wi-Fi mini-decoder, Canal will benefit the whole family with its “Wireless Multiroom” functionality available everywhere in the home.

This functionality will keep evolving with new functionalities soon to be added, including “multi-live”, which will make it possible to watch up to four channels simultaneously. Sports fans and news enthusiasts will be delighted.

A microphone has now been included in the Bluetooth remote control, ready for the activation of voice commands coming soon.

Finally, the myCanal application – used by a million individual visitors every day – has also had a makeover to provide an “All is one” experience which now brings together all the Group’s online services (on demand, VoD, SVoD) to “become standard for all users” of Canal.

The launch of this uniquely high-performance decoder marks a new and important milestone in Canal’s renewal.
