57th & 9th: Sting returns with a new rock album!
Sting’s 12th solo album is released. To our ears it’s a clear return to his rocking roots, inspired by major current issues and paying tribute to icons who departed this year.
The album is called “57th & 9th”, a reference to the intersection in Manhattan Sting crossed every day to get to the Hell’s Kitchen recording studio where he recorded the album in just four months. The album will be released by A&M/Interscope Records.
After experimenting with jazz and classical music in recent years, to our great delight the singer returns to rock with “57th & 9th”. Well-known for his commitment to human rights, Sting also covers topics including the fate of migrants in Europe (Inshallah) and climate change (One Fine Day).
Deeply moved by the passing of David Bowie, Lemmy Kilmister and Prince this year, Sting also pays tribute to them with the ballad 50,000.
It’s been more than ten years since Sting released a pop/rock album… Let’s enjoy his legendary voice again!
