Canal+
Green light from the authorities
The French competition authority has given Canal+ the green light, under certain conditions, to buy the Direct 8 and Direct Star channels from Bolloré. Following extensive discussions with the authority, Canal+ agreed to make a number of substantial commitments aimed at serving the interests of television viewers and promoting French and European productions. These new commitments round out the ones made in July, which imposed strict restrictions on Canal+ in terms of rights acquisitions. This agreement will allow Canal+ to complete its acquisition of Direct 8 and Direct Star – initially announced on September 8, 2011 – at the end of this month.
