The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations began its 32nd edition on June 21 in Egypt. Broadcast in full on Canal+ Sport in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa, the competition is also the subject, for its communication campaign, of a collaboration between Canal+, Universal Music Africa, BETC and Havas.

To accompany the broadcast of the soccer event of the year in Africa, accessible to subscribers of Canal+ Sport in the sub-Saharan zone, the “In CAN mode” campaign realized by BETC, and with a communication provided by Havas, has been deployed in 25 countries through an exceptional multichannel advertising plan and on all the channels of Canal+ Group in Africa.

This campaign has already distinguished itself at the African Advertising Festival of Marrakech. The spot “In CAN mode” has won three Cristal White in the categories “Direction”, “African culture” and “Entertainment”.

The TV spot tells the story of the inhabitants of a city who put themselves in the spirit of the competition and spend “In CAN mode” with outfits made especially for the occasion, in a nod to African teams. The soundtrack “Panenka” was created and performed exclusively for Canal+ by the Togolese duo Toofan, in collaboration with Universal Music Africa.
