Canalplay, Group Canal+’s French streaming service, launches this month a new Download-to-go functionality which allows its subscribers to watch a program everywhere and at anytime in offline mode.

In parallel, Canalplay continues the total reshaping of the user experience on television. In addition to its existing recommendation tool, which this month becomes multi-profile to cater with the interests of each member of the household, a second level of personalization is being introduced. The semantic recommendation tool Suggest relies on a fine-tuned indexation of the whole catalog by a dedicated Canalplay editorial team, to suggest programs according to consuming habits and user tastes.

Canalplay today has 520,000 subscribers. With a yearly portfolio of 10,000 programs, out of which 8,000 at any time, with 500 fresh programs each month and 40% of French programs, the subscriber satisfaction rate, at 85%, is particularly high. On average, each subscriber watches 37 programs every month.

A key element in Canalplay’s success is its investment policy in the acquisition and production of original digital series. Seven new series will be launched as of October and other original series will be unveiled early 2015 under the new labels Digital Revelation and French of Humour.
