Studiocanal, its subsidiary RED Production Company, producer Spencer Millman (The Inbetweeners) as well as actors and writers Simon Bird and Jonny Sweet announced the creation of a new TV and film production company in the UK called Guilty Party. The new company, in which Studiocanal will held a 25 per cent share and which will handle international distribution, will be under the creative supervision of Nicola Schindler, founder of RED Production Company, producer of acclaimed series such as Happy Valley, Cucumber, Last Tango in Halifax, Queer as Folk, or The Five (pictured), the first original TV series penned by bestselling author Harlan Coben.
With this latest move, Studiocanal, part of Canal+ Group, pursues its ambition to become a major player in the production of local and international TV series. As Romain Bessi, Studiocanal’s Chief Operating Officer, explained, “there is a fantastic opportunity for Studiocanal to become the main house for European talents in TV series”.
