Studiocanal and Scandinavian major studio Svensk Filmindustri (SF) have entered a strategic distribution and production alliance, effective immediately.
The agreement includes an all rights, output distribution deal for SF on all new Studiocanal films on the Nordic market (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland) and the digital distribution by SF of Studiocanal catalogue titles.
The deal also comprises coproduction based on English-Speaking Nordic feature films and TV-series from SF properties, aimed for the international market. SF will handle the Nordic markets for these co-productions and Studiocanal will distribute them internationally.
Two film projects are currently being developed: Easy Money, the English-language remake of the Swedish 2010 box-office hit, and the Ibiza-set thriller The White Island, to be directed by Jens Jonsson.
Studiocanal and SF are also developing two high-quality TV-series: the thriller The Lawyer, based on a story by script writers Hans Rosenfeldt (The Bridge) and Michael Hjorth (The
Condemned) in cooperation with Easy Money top-selling author Jens Lapidus. The second one is the drama series The Ambassador, with a story by the internationally bestselling and acclaimed novelist Henning Mankell.
