Tandem Communications made several announcements this week in Cannes at Mip-TV, the world’s market for audiovisual content.

The Studiocanal subsidiary, a leading provider of quality drama television productions, signed a first-look distribution deal with Big Light Productions, the London-based production company headed by Frank Spotnitz, best known for his work on the landmark series The X-Files.

Tandem Communications also announced Canal+’s green-light for the production of the 10-episode one-hour drama series Spotless, produced in association with Rosetta Media. Principal photography is targeted to begin this summer, shooting on-location in London. This “sexy, one-hour crime drama peppered with Black humor” is part of the Canal+ Original Programming label.

Jointly with Lionsgate, Tandem Communications indicated that Sex, Lies and Handwriting, is targeted for principal photography this summer, with shooting on location in Vancouver. This 12-epiosde one-hour drama series is the first project stemming from their co-venture agreement announced last August to co-finance and distribute selected one-hour drama series.

At a Mip-TV keynote, Olivier Courson, Chairman and CEO of Studiocanal, and Rola Bauer, President and Partner of Tandem Communications, a discussion which has been covered by TheMediaShaker, first images of the second season of the procedural, 12-episode one-hour crime series Crossing Lines, were unveiled.
