CANAL+ Group has announced a strategic partnership with Showbox to enable anyone to  create professional looking shows without any prior expertise or special equipment.

Showbox’ key features include:

  • 3D virtual studios with endlessly customizable design packages.
  • A full range of show formats for news, food, travel and more.
  • Built in Auto-cue and digital make-up.
  • An extensive selection of photos, video footage and music from top catalogues and  agencies.
  • A cloud-based service to create content collaboratively with friends.

Manuel Alduy, Head of CANAL OTT, said: “We are thrilled with this partnership that will help talents from CANAL+ and Studio Bagel to further enhance the production value of their videos, free of cost. This will in turn boost the attractiveness of our multi-channel networks (MCN). Our goal is to bring together Showbox’ state-of-the-art technology and CANAL+ Group’s editorial know-how to create ever more exciting and innovating content.”

Effi Atad, CEO and co-founder of Showbox.com, expressed his great enthusiasm for the partnership with Group CANAL+: “Working closely with a world-class broadcaster that has done big things in the MCN market is hugely exciting. We look forward to making a real impact on video creation in the world’s French speaking countries together.”

Showbox’ technology will be available in France on a dedicated web site called “Showbox by CANAL+.” As part of the deal, this website will, at first, be available exclusively to talents from CANAL+ Group’s MCNs. The website will at a later stage become available to all users, based on a “freemium” model.

After having acquired Studio Bagel, France’s leading comedy MCN on YouTube, and launched CANALSTART, a program aimed at supporting projects and start-ups that specialize in media and new technologies, CANAL+ moves further into promoting and developing new digital talents by providing them with a platform that will change Internet video production.

Created in 2013, Showbox is based in Tel-Aviv, Israel.
