First popular “master’s degree” in France, the Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra Comique is a complete cycle for people from 11 to 25 years old, of all origins and without preliminary training, in choral and soloist singing, theatre, modern dance and tap-dancing, provided by professionals.

The objective is double: introducing new opportunities to the culture and allowing the future generations to take to learning in a playful way and therefore contribute to open up a range of new possibilities for these budding singers (socially, but also from a school point of view or a professional one).

Diversity and interdisciplinarity are required, in accordance with a classical education.
This young talent incubator contributes to the development of the awareness, the mediation and the scheduling of the Opéra Comique shows, whether intended for the young audience or stemming from the directory.

The Maîtrise Populaire is a professional degree, dedicated to serving social diversity through the transmission of performing arts. Beyond its educational dimension, the Maîtrise Populaire’s mission is to open new horizons, and counter dropping out of school, through highlighting the talents of each and every student, and the taste to learn.
