As of 4 June, SFR Fibre broadband service will increase from 100 to 300 Mbps, the best proposal among offers for the general public currently available on the French market. Throughput will now reach up to 300 Mbps on download and 50 Mbps when uploading. SFR Fibre broadband is already available in over 70 municipalities, including Paris and other towns in Ile-de-France, Bordeaux, Cherbourg, Grenoble, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Metz, Montpellier, Nantes, Nice, Pau, Rennes, Strasbourg and Toulouse. To date, over 1.2 million residential units are eligible for SFR Fibre. To encourage French households to adopt fibre, SFR is still offering this service at the monthly price of €9.99 incl. VAT for one year (and then at €22.99 incl. VAT monthly) for individuals who already subscribe to a mobile offer (with the Carrée plan). This offer includes a broadband Internet connection of up to 300 Mbps and unlimited calls to landlines for over 100 destinations.
Moreover, SFR is set to embark on full-scale pilot testing in the Paris region that will give net surfers a throughput reaching 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps). The testing phase is slated to begin on 20 June and the initial feedback will be made available on the user community platform “Atelier SFR”.
